DESCRIPTION:Maine’s First Ship invites you to explore 17th Century Foodways with demonstrations\, displays\, and special guests in the boatyard outside the Bath Freight Shed\, 9am-12:30pm\, Saturday\, April 19. \nGuest Chef Sam Collins will prepare an open-hearth Salt Cod Chowder\, Beef Stew\, and other tasty bites while telling stories about the challenges of cooking at sea\, while Guest Chef Joe Robbins makes Bean Hole Beans and discusses the possible indigenous origins of the dish. \nHistorian Michael Dekker will share his knowledge of 17th century agriculture\, both Indigenous and European\, and Axel B. Boy will talk about 17th century sailors’ life and food aboard ship. You can join in by hand churning butter. \nMorning displays & demos are free.
