DESCRIPTION:Get ready to groove to the rhythm of Waypoint’s Music Fest\, sponsored by Central Furniture\, on Saturday\, June 7\, 2025. This year’s Music Fest features an electrifying lineup\, with Motor Booty Affair headlining the event and Fugitive performing. \nThis festival is about more than just music; it’s about making a meaningful difference in the lives of children with autism and intellectual developmental disabilities. Proceeds from the Music Fest will directly support Waypoint’s children’s and adults’ programs. Waypoint offers a broad range of services designed to empower individuals with disabilities. Our special-purpose school supports children\, helping them thrive academically and socially. Case management and clinical services provide essential support to both children and adults\, enabling them to overcome various challenges. Additionally\, we ensure safe and stable living environments through our shared living arrangements\, group homes\, and in-home supports. \nThe Music Fest will kick off at 4 pm and continue until 8 pm at 5 Dunaway Drive in Sanford\, at Waypoint’s historic waterfront. Attendees can indulge in delicious food from local vendors\, including Kona Ice\, and enjoy the beer garden sponsored by Shipyard Brewing Company and River Junction. Exciting raffle items\, generated by Central Furniture\, include a Weber Grill\, Adirondack Chairs\, and an Outdoor Fire Pit. \nTickets for this not-to-be-missed event are available to purchase at www.waypointmaine.org. The Moose Permit Lottery kicks off at 1 PM. \nMaine Moose Permit Lottery\nOne of the most anticipated moments of the High Peaks Outdoor Heritage Festival is the Maine Moose Permit Lottery Drawing\, kicking off at 1:00 PM at the Farmington Fairgrounds. This annual event is a huge draw for outdoor enthusiasts across the state and beyond\, as it determines who will receive one of Maine’s coveted moose hunting permits for the 2025 season. \nIn 2024\, the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife issued 4\,105 permits\, including 2\,645 antlered and 1\,460 antlerless permits.

DESCRIPTION:On June 28\, 2025 our annual charity softball game will be played at the ballpark in Old Orchard Beach Maine. Gates open at 2:00 PM\, game starts at 4:00 PM. \nMaine Operation Game Thief\, in partnership with the West Virginia Natural Resources Police Officers Association and International Wildlife Crimestoppers\, will be the recipients of all proceeds from the game. \nThe funds raised will pay for: \n\nconfidential and anonymous tips for illegal poaching\nyouth lifetime hunting & fishing licenses\nsponsor youth hunting & fishing events\nmuch needed equipment put in the field for game wardens to be safer and more efficient\n\nThis year’s North Woods Throwdown will feature Maine Game Wardens vs. West Virginia game wardens\, the game will also be livestreamed and our tee shirts are available online now and can be shipped to your home prior to the game. \nALL AGES price is available for this event.\nTicket prices include a $2 per ticket service fee.\nPlease Note: This event has a rain date of Sunday\, June 29th\, 2025 at Old Orchard Beach Ballpark.

DESCRIPTION:Maine is home to an estimated 17.52 million acres of forest land covering 89 percent of the State and boasts the highest percentage of forest cover in any state in the US. Combine that with access to remote and rugged sections\, thousands of miles of trails and waterways\, and often limited or nonexistent cell coverage and you not only have access to unspoiled wilderness\, but the responsibility to be prepared for the unexpected. Hunting\, fishing\, paddling\, hiking\, and other outdoor pursuits are around every corner and knowing how to thrive in the woods and having the experience to survive an unplanned night or two is important\, if not critical. \nIn this Workshop we will cover: \n\nTrip Planning – Staying Found\nDressing for Success – Layering\nS.T.O.P. (Stop\, Think\, Observe\, Plan)\nThe Order of Survival\nHow to build a simple shelter\nFire building skills\nWays to find and purify water\nFinding and preparing food\nSignaling for help\nCompass basics\nTaking a bearing and how to follow it\nGPS basics\n\nWhether you are new to the outdoors\, or looking to brush up on some survival skills\, this workshop will be a fun and engaging way to be more prepared. All students will leave with a survival whistle\, and more information about hunter education and other programs that will further your knowledge of the Maine outdoors.
