SUMMARY:Save Your Breath 5K - Virtual Event
DESCRIPTION:We need your support more than ever.  COVID-19 has swept across the United States closing businesses\, disrupting the health and safety of our community.  Lung cancer patients are at greater risk as the disease attacks the lungs.  With this we announce that our Save Your Breath 5k run/walk and race walk will be virtual this year.  It was a hard decission to make but did so to protect our community for COVID-19. \nYou will have two weeks to complete your event starting October 25\, 2020 to November 7\, 2020. This is a virtual event  your time\, your place.  All tmes must be received no later than 5pm November 7th to qualify for race awards.     $100 will be awarded to the overall top male/female.  $25 will be awarded to the top male/female in each age group. Awards will be mailed to the winners. This event is a fundraiser to help support Free ME from Lung Cancer’s mission ~ research\, help uninsured high risk patients get early detection via low dose CT scans\, help single family low income homeowners get access to radon air abatement systems and to help covid19 relief funds in Maine.    Please consider making an extra donation when you register or set up a fundraising page so that your family\, friends and coworkers can support your run.  Those raising $100.00 or more will get a free registration.  This is one of two events that support our foundation’s programs. both.   On-line donations are processed at 6%.  This supports RunSignUp web portal.  If you wish to have your full donation go to our programs please submit a check to Free ME from Lung Cancer\, 176 Leavitt Road\, Augusta\, Maine  04330.

DESCRIPTION:Kick Out Mesothelioma 5-Miler & 2.5 Mile Walk In Memory of John W. Griffin (1941-2003)\nTHIS IS A LIVE EVENT \nThis year’s Kick Out Mesothelioma 5-Miler & 2.5 Mile Walk will take place Sunday\, Nov. 8 at 10:00 AM ET in Portland\, Maine. Organized by Tony Myatt\, this annual Fundraise for Meso raises funds for mesothelioma research in memory of John W. Griffin\, a pipefitter\, Navy veteran\, and City Councilor who passed away in 2003 after a 1-month diagnosis of mesothelioma. \nCovid-19 Safety Precautions for Runners and Walkers \n\nFor both in-person events\, masks are required when picking up packets and before the event begins.\nPacket pickups will be staggered and early options will be offered to avoid large numbers of people picking up at the same time\, lines\, etc.\nFor families\, it is requested that one representative pick up all packets and distribute to their family members.\nBottled water will be included in the packet so there will not be water at the finish area where people would traditionally be touching multiple bottles with their hands.\nLimit of 100 people (50 for the walk\, 50 for the run).\nIf you have an underlying respiratory or medical condition\, we recommend you do not participate in the event or participate in solidarity once you have picked up your packet and possibly on your own time.\n\nEvent Details \n\nSunday\, Nov. 8\, 2020\n5-miler starts at 10:00 AM ET\n\nStart at Cutter Street & Eastern Promenade\nFinish at Sewage Treatment Plant Rd & Marginal Way\n\n\n2.5-mile walk starts on arrival\n\nStart & finish at Sewage Treatment Plant Rd\, Bayside Trail Entrance.\n\n\nPacket pickup at Fleet Feet Maine Running – 309 Marginal Way Portland\, Maine\nRegistration is $24 through Saturday\, Nov. 7; $29 on race day\nAwards:\n\nCash prizes for top overall male and female.\nAwards age groups.\n\n\n\nMore information about this fundraiser\, please visit the registration website. \n

SUMMARY:Bath Area Food Bank Turkey Trot - Virtual Event
DESCRIPTION:Our annual 2020 Bath Area Food Bank Turkey Trot will be VERY different this year. We have been part of the Turkey Trot for over 30 years\, and this will be the first year we will not be able to gather like we are used to.  We will be holding a virtual turkey trot this year. As you can imagine..The global health crises has made it impossible to hold fundraisers. Due to the perfect storm of a pandemic\, a union strike and the high cost of food\, We can use ALL THE HELP you are willing to give.  Thank you for helping us help so many. \nWe will begin  Running\, Trotting\, Walking or Crawling at 8am.  You pick your own 5k route.  Registration is $35.00 (plus a 2.50 processing fee). ALL the funds donated will go directly to feeding insecure families in Bath\, W.
