SUMMARY:Bold Coast Runners – Cobscook Backyard Ultra
DESCRIPTION:The Bold Coast Runners are  a welcoming\, encouraging and supportive group of crazy people who run the roads and trails of way Downeast Maine\, the Canadian Borderlands\, and beyond.  We welcome everyone\, from beginners to old-timers and from tortoises to hares.  We run distances ranging from 1 mile to 50 miles and on anything from smooth tar to rugged single track.  If it’s hot: we run\, if it rains: we run\, if it’s snowy: we run in snowshoes\, if icy: in spikes.  We just run\, mostly for fun\, but some of us are also competitive! \nCobscook Backyard Ultra – 50K or 50 miles.   \n* Important Note regarding the date: the park will be contracting for some significant work removing damaged and dangerous trees. It is possible this work will be ongoing on 23 April.  If it is the event may be cancelled or postponed at short notice. \nThe Event:  Come and run an easy 5 Km or 4.167 mile (6.706 Km) loops – just a stroll in the Park!  If you want to spend Sunday 23 April in the beautiful Cobscook Bay State Park running and walking your first\, or a different kind of\, 50 Km or 50 mile Ultra with a great group of people\, then why not sign up and join the fun? Or bring 1 or more friends and split the distance between you as a team entry. \nIf you can run/walk 3.1 miles in 1 hour then do it again next hour\, and then again for 10 laps/hours in total\, then you can finish a 50K in 10 hours. Or if you don’t think you can do it all alone\, find a friend or two and divide it up as a Relay Team of 2 or 3\, just so long as one team member completes each lap. \nOr run/walk 4.167 miles each hour over and over again for 12 laps/hours in total for a 50 miler.  Again\, do it as an individual or as a Relay Team of 2 or 3\, just so long as one member completes each lap. \nThe course is on vehicle free park gravel roads and will be well marked with arrows at every intersection. The 4.167 mile loop will overlap with the 5K loop for the most part with an additional 0.57 Km out and back to make up the difference.  Course Map 50k click here – Course Map 50mi Click here \nWe’ll follow modified Backyard Ultra protocols – starting at 9am 50 Km runners will do one 5 Km loop\, then do the 5K loop again at 10:00am\, then again at 11:00am etc. through to starting the last lap at 6:00pm for 10 x 5K = 50K. When you finish a lap you’ll likely have time to spare before the next one starts\, so take a break\, grab a drink/grub and wait for the next hour to come round. We will have a 5 minute warning bell before the start of the next lap. If you are not on the start line on the hour\, because you haven’t finished the last lap or you’ve fallen asleep or whatever\, then you are finished at however many loops you have completed.  The event ends after 10 hours so the furthest you can go is 50kms. \n50 mile runners will start earlier\, at 7:00am and do a 4.167 mile loop\, then do it again at 8:00am\, etc. as with the 50 K runners – every hour and starting the last lap at 6:00pm alongside the last lap for the 50 K runners. \nTeams – in addition to individuals we will allow teams of 2 or 3 runners to compete.  So long as one of your runners is on the start line on the hour\, and completes the loop\, your team can continue.  This means you can participate without having to run all 10 laps\, or even if you need to run off to do something else for a couple of hours.  It’s up to you to organize your team. \nNote: if there is competition for places we will give first priority to individual runners\, second to 2 person teams\, and lastly to 3 person teams – so yeah\, we’re encouraging you to think big and ambitous – get out of your comfort zones! \nTiming:  We’ll have a clock and a timing sheet on-site – write down your own loop times. \nNot quite a Fatass style event – while largely a Fatass style event – no aid stations\, no support\, no medals or awards\, just satisfaction for you (or your team) in completing the distance and a great sense of camaraderie as we all push ourselves\, we do ask for a non-refundable donation of $10 to cover park entrance fees and some of our other basic costs. \nYou should Bring your own supplies\, canopy\, chairs\, etc. be prepared for the weather conditions.   Also\, please consider bringing something to share – we’ll put out a shelter and table for this.  There are multiple outhouses along the course but no running water or showers. \nBecause the park is closed to vehicles until 15 May you will have to park outside the park gate on South Edmunds Road and carry your stuff from there to the Start/Finish area where we’ll all set up – it’s about 300 metres. You can bring a cart or wheelbarrow. Please do NOT block the park entrance.

SUMMARY:Riverlands 100 & Relay
DESCRIPTION:The Riverlands 100 is a trail race put on by experienced trail runners for people who like to push their limits. Come join us!\nSolo runners will do 4 laps of a beautiful 25-mile out-and-back trail at the Androscoggin Riverlands State Park in Turner\, ME. The course is a little over half ATV trail that has a little of everything: river views of the Androscoggin (listen for loons!)\, dense forest\, ups and downs\, rocks and roots and hopefully some good mud. The rest is sweet single track\, the best Maine offers. There is not much flat\, but it has the potential to be a fast 100 for experienced ultra runners and a challenging 100 for first-timers. \nThinking of making it a party? \nWe will also be offering a 100 mile relay for teams of 5.  The relay course will be 5 laps of a 20 mile out and back course which is slightly different than the solo 100 mile course. Each relay runner must complete at least one 20-mile lap. The relay teams are on the ATV trail for 80% of their 20 mile leg\, with 20% single track. We have had some 4 person teams where one runner did two legs. This works\, too!

They will include educational exhibits\, programs to be announced soon and a bonfire to welcome in the racers. Trailside restaurant at Leisure Life Resort is open for breakfast\, lunch and dinner all day where spectators can enjoy great food in a warm friendly atmosphere with a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains. \nStart time for the 70-mile race is 9 a.m. and the 30-mile begins at 10:00 a.m. Spectators line the starting chute to witness the intense excitement of the dog teams eager to run and to cheer each team on their way! The long race trail heads north into the mountainous 100-Mile Wilderness region on AMC property and passes near several of their remote sporting camps\, providing vantage points for those who want to watch the race’s progress. The teams can be seen traveling along the trail at the Moosehead Riders Snowmobile Club house on Scammon Rd. as well as at West Branch Pond Camps on the Frenchtown Rd. \nAbout The Race\nThe Wilderness Sled Dog Race\, now in its X year\, is known for its remote terrain\, beautiful scenery and enthusiastic community support. Focus is placed on the health and well-being of the canine athletes who\, with their human partners of course\,  travel throughout the northeast and Canada to compete in this highly popular event. Race Veterinarian\, Dr. Rick DuBois\, DVM of Greenville Veterinary Clinic\, ensures that each four legged athlete is up to the task of traversing the race trail before the race\, out on the trail and at the finish line. The Wilderness Race has a perfect record when it comes to the health and well-being of every dog who has ever participated! \nSpectator Viewing\nIn addition to the race start and finish lines in Greenville\, the Wilderness Race is unique in that it offers fans the opportunity to view the race teams out on the trail as they head to the Northern most checkpoint and return to Greenville. Teams can be seen as they head towards Hedgehog gate by traveling out the Greenville Road to the AMC parking area\, for those staying at AMC’s Little Lyford Lodge they can ski out to the race trail to view teams passing by\, spectators can also drive north on the Lily Bay Road (toward Kokadjo) turning off on the Frenchtown Road\, take this for 12 miles to the 70 mile race safety checkpoint at West Branch Pond Camps. Eric Stirling and his crew will be catering to spectators as the race teams travel through these remote camps. The teams travel back on the same course and so the viewing spots would be the same with the addition of spotting teams as they cross Scammon Rd at the Moosehead Riders Snowmobile Club house on the return trip. \nContact us wildernesssleddograce@gmail.com

SUMMARY:Maine Track Club 10-Mile Mid-Winter Classic - Virtual
DESCRIPTION:Due to the ongoing COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic and the surge in the Omicron variant\, we must cancel the in-person running of the Mid-Winter Classic on February 6\, 2022. This was a difficult decision to make and was reached in part due to the record surge in coronavirus cases\, the expected peak in cases for the Omicron variant a week or two before race day\, the unpredictability of the weather and our inability to safely provide race services completely outdoors\, and the lack of hospital beds available in our area in the case anybody gets injured at the race. \nWe are still going to hold the virtual #InTheWild version of the race\, and completion of the virtual race will still score you points in the Maine Track Club Grand Prix Race Series\, and will count towards earning your race jacket for completing at least 1 event in each of the races in the series in 2022. (As a reminder\, you can earn additional points by running multiple events\, which are still available for at least the Longfellow Frostbite 2.5k and the Maine Marathon\, and potentially other races in the series!)

SUMMARY:Save Your Breath 5K Run/Walk
DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\nPLACE\n31 Union Street\nAugusta\, ME US 04347\n\n\n\n\nDESCRIPTION\n\n\nWe are proceeding with a live event this year\, however\, things may change should covid19 continue to be a threat to the community.  We have included a virtual run for those who would rather run their race their way or cannot travel to Augusta to participate in the live timed event. \nWe need your support more than ever.  Covid19 has swept across the United States closing businesses\, disrupting the health and safety of our community.  Lung cancer patients are at greater risk\, as the disease attacks the lungs. \nAwards ceremony will be held at Bateau Brewing in Gardiner immediately after the race.  All winners must be present at Bateau Brewing to receive their prize.  This event is a fundraiser to help support Free ME from Lung Cancer’s mission ~ research\, help uninsured high risk patients get access to early detection via low dose CT scans\, help single family low income homeowners get access to radon air abatement systems and to help covid19 relief funds in Maine hospitals to help keet the high risk patients and front line workers safe.    Please consider making an extra donation when you register or set up a fundraising page so that your family\, friends and coworkers can support your run.  Those raising $100.00 or more will get a free registration.  Those raising $100 or more will receive a token to use when registering. This is one of two events that support our foundation’s programs. On-line donations are processed at 6%.  This supports RunSignUp web portal. \nWith last year’s money we issued two grants for covid relief funds to area hospitals\, provided 250 lung cancer care bags\, set aside $15000 for our radon abatement program and $12000 for our early lung cancer screening program.  We are also working with the Dana Farber Cancer Insitute to fund a $100\,000 research grant per year for two years to support a fellow researcher.  We couldn’t do all this work without your support. \nWe are all looking forward to seeing you all down at the finish line on November 6th. A separate registration is required for each distance\, however\, and each distance must be completed at a different time (for example\, if you complete the 50K\, that distance can’t also be used toward the 12.5K and 25K). \nThe entry fee for each event is $25 with no t-shirt included\, or $35 if you’d like to receive a shirt. \nParticipant will have the entire month of November to complete their chosen distance(s) and submit results.
