SUMMARY:Firebird Trail Race
DESCRIPTION:Firebird Trail Race is a grassroots\, tough trail event\, fueled by donations\, positive vibes\, and run on a 5K / 13M / 50K crushing course. It’s technical and challenging\, with lots of rocks and roots on mostly single track trail. The course is largely on the Cross-Falmouth Trail from Windham to Falmouth. Unlike other races\, to get in runners must donate to a non-profit of their choice within a year before the race. This race is truly a community effort\, volunteer run\, with the goal of helping each and every runner accomplish a grueling task\, whether for the first time or the hundredth time. We’ve added a 5K for those who just want a taste of the trails. 13M and 50K runners will receive a Firebird Trail Races shirt.

SUMMARY:Trek Across Maine - American Lung Association
DESCRIPTION:Out of an abundance of caution to prevent the spread of COVID-19\, the American Lung Association has adjusted plans for the 2020 Trek Across Maine for the safety of our participants\, volunteers\, staff and partners. We will not be having a physical event on June 19 – 21\, but we will offer a virtual Trek Across Maine option which you can participate in from now through June 30th. We hope that you will support our virtual event and stay connected with us. \nEVERY MILE COUNTS\nThe Trek Across Maine will celebrate its 36th anniversary in 2020 with a virtual event. As the largest fundraising event of its kind in the nation for the American Lung Association\, the Trek has raised more than $29 million in the past 35 years. This year a portion of the funds raised by the Trek Across Maine are supporting COVID-19 research. It was announced last week that the American Lung Association is launching a $25M initiative to end COVID-19 and defend against future respiratory virus pandemics.
