We’ll check out our space and be sure to stretch out the drive\, enjoy happy hour and indulge in a hearty vegetarian meal. \nOur spacious country colonial has warmth and ambiance with a wood burning stove\, wood floors\, an open kitchen area\, living and dining room. Adventurers can also kick back in the extra den\, enjoy one of the two huge decks\, or sit by the fire pit and watch the stars. We’ll have nine cozy bedrooms to spread out in and 2.5 baths. \nSaturday\, after breakfast and a yoga practice\, adventurers have a date in Lincoln with Alpine Adventures for winter ziplining. They opened the first\, longest\, highest and fastest Zipline Canopy Tour in New England in 2006. Our adrenaline will be pumping on this wintertime thrill ride! Our guides will keep us safe and secure as we zip over the canopy with outstanding views. \nWe’ll come back to our fab pad to relax and eat some yummy food before heading out for nighttime fun – a visit to the Ice Castles! Adventurers will explore icy layers and tunnels in a real-life version of the movie Frozen. The castles are enshrouded in an aurora borealis and lit from within in a rainbow of colors. \nSunday funday can be adventurer’s choice! Loon Mountain is close by and has wonderful downhill runs. Cross-country skiing is awesome there too\, their network of wide trails makes for a perfect way to explore the White Mountains. The cross-country runs vary as does the downhill experience from beginner trails to more advanced. Loon also has a skating pond that we may like to check out – fun! \nAdventurers can purchase their downhill skiing tickets online or if there are enough of us\, MYA can purchase as a group. If you prefer cross-country skiing no worries\, their trail prices are very affordable. \nThis is going to be the perfect start to the new year! Cruise aboard a stable and comfortable jet-powered catamaran from Bar Harbor to Bangor and up the Penobscot River!  Along the way pass through Eggomoggin Reach and under the Deer Isle Bridge\, visit Castine harbor\, travel forty miles up the Penobscot River\, view Fort Knox and the Penobscot Narrows Bridge. Bob Duchesne will play host and point out wildlife and bird sightings. During the tour  lighthouse historian Jeremy D’Entremont will provide narrative at twelve lighthouses – with eight minute stops at each light. A representative of the friends of Fort Knox will be onboard to provide commentary on Fort Knox. Other special guests may also join us for a thrilling trip up the Penobscot to Bucksport by water.  Mainly Meats BBQ Lunch!

DESCRIPTION:The Machias Bay Harvest Fair will be held at Station 1898 – Machias’ vintage railroad station. Color Dash at 9 a.m.(registration is at UMM at 8 a.m.) Pumpkin tossing will change this year to a THROWING contest – bring a 3-5 pound pumpkin and take your best shot! A chili cooking contest and a seagull calling contest are also being added. The Vendor Area opens at 10 a.m. Music begins at noon. Proceeds benefit the continued renovation of the train station. A special two-day Fiber Festival is being held to augment the fair.

DESCRIPTION:Three days of free music\, food\, and fun as we celebrate all of those who make the Katahdin region their destination. The Trails End Festival began ten years ago to bring outdoor enthusiasts of all ages together to celebrate all trails into the Katahdin region\, to cheer for the AT hikers who scramble up to Katahdin each season\, and to showcase our community. Visitors come to the Katahdin Region throughout the year for many different reasons\, but the majority come to hike our mountains\, paddle our lakes and rivers\, and walk\, bike\, cross country ski\, and snowmobile on our trails. The festival is a joint effort by the Katahdin Chamber of Commerce\, the downtown Milliinocket community\, and our generous volunteers and sponsors.
