SUMMARY:Katahdin Ascent Adventure
DESCRIPTION:Embrace your sense of adventure with a wintertime ascent of Mount Katahdin with Maine Yoga Adventures and Acadia Mountain Guides! \nThe remote location and arctic environment of Katahdin makes it one of the most rewarding winter alpine ascents in New England. Reaching the summit at any time of year is awesome but in winter it holds more magic and less people. \nOur climb begins with a half-day snowshoe or ski to the base of the mountain where winter camping skills and mountaineering skills are taught. We start the climb the next morning and return back to trailhead by early evening. \nThis trip is physically demanding but requires no experience. Adventurers are lead by winter mountaineering guides. Included in the adventure is climbing instruction\, park fees\, micro spikes\, crampons\, ice axe\, transceiver\, double boots\, skis\, snowshoes\, dinner\, breakfast\, and -20 degree sleeping bags. \nHolly\, Founder of MYA will toss in yoga whenever time permits. We’ll be sure to get in some deep breaths and stretching! \nAdventurers are responsible for their own clothing\, lunch\, and snacks. \nCost: $240. Please register online at maineyogaadventures.com or call 207-299-0082.

SUMMARY:4th Annual Rangeley Moose Dash
DESCRIPTION:The Rangeley Moose Dash 5K course takes advantage of the beautiful varied terrain we have available here at the Trails Center\, from wide straight-a-ways to gradual ascent and descents\, to some aggressive hill climb/descent opportunities. Views and possible wildlife sightings are included!Ê The course is a mix of single track\, wide open ski trails\, and virgin territory. Because of the amount of snow we receive\, the virgin won’t be 100% virgin\, otherwise you’dÊ be up to your waist in snow. However\, we will manage the trails so that a certain portion of them remain ungroomed or untrod for a while before the race.ÊOur stadium (bigger than a football field) provides an excellent venue for mass starts and great visibility for an exciting finish. There is a sidehill overlooking the stadium that also provides a great place for spectators. There are several places along the course that are in the vicinity of our yurt lodge that also provide good places for cheering/spectating.Ê
