SUMMARY:Big A 50K Trail Race
DESCRIPTION:Mark your calendars: The 2023 Big A 50K trail race will be held Saturday\, May 6. \nRegistration is now open via RunSignUp! A minimum donation of $20 is recommended. All donations directly support the work of the Mount Agamenticus Conservation Program. \nThe Big A 50K course is composed of three 10.35 mile loops starting at the summit of Mount Agamenticus (Big A) and climbing back up the Big A and going over Second Hill and Third Hill and back up the Big A. There are opportunities to cross the finish line at approximately 10 miles and 13 miles (or any multiple of them up to 31 miles/50K). \nSee Jeff Bellistri’s 2018 mini-documentary of the Big A 50K on YouTube. \nThe terrain is mostly single track with some dirt road and ATV-type trails. The full 50K has 5\,787 feet of elevation gain. Footing is technical with plenty of rocks\, roots\, and elevation changes. Trail running shoes are recommended. All runners should train for and plan to finish within 10 hours. \nA course preview/training run will be held on a weekend in the 2nd half of April. SUMMARY:East Grand Adventure Race
DESCRIPTION:20 miles-compass run\, mountain bike\, climbing wall and paddle (canoe or kayak). Extra challenges may include climbing wall\, tough mudder crawl\, log rolling\, etc. Pre-registration required. 7:30-8:30am check-in at East Grand High. \n$1500 in student awards and include 1st place Jetboil Flash Stoves\, 2nd and 3rd place\, $75 & $50 gift certificates to Ski Rack Sports of Bangor. All racer’s names entered into a drawing for a chance at a New Old Town Discovery 15’8″ canoe. \n34 mile Baskahegan Stream (separate race) will be in conjunction with the East Grand Adventure Race as a paddle only option. \nRegistration fee covers lunch\, t-shirts and awards. Families with more than two participating only cost $5 after the 1st two. Pre-registration online required.

DESCRIPTION:Participation in a boating education course will teach how to properly operate and maintain a boat. There are a few options of course types to choose from\, please visit our website for a complete listing. NASBLA approved online courses that are recognized in Maine are available as well as classroom courses. \nNote: Persons 16 years of age and under 18 years of age MAY NOT operate a personal watercraft unless they possess on their person\, identification showing proof of age and proof of successful completion of a NASBLA approved boating safety course unless they are accompanied by a person 18 years of age or older who physically occupies the personal watercraft. \nPassage of a final exam is required. You must attend every day of the class in order to receive your certificate. \nTotal Course = 6 Hours\n\nProper Operation & Safety (Boating Handling-Equipment-Trailering) = 3 Hours\nLaws = 30 Minutes\nEmergencies & Survival (cold water) = 40 Minutes\nSelf Help First Aid = 20 Minutes\nEnvironment/Ethics = 1 1/2 Hours\n\nNew courses are posted on the MDIF&W website as they become available. DESCRIPTION:PINELAND FARMS | MAINE\nThe premier trail running festival in Maine returns for the 3rd year with long runs on Saturday\, shorter distances on Sunday\, and a Sunset 5k and 24 hour events in between! We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Skowhegan Savings Bank. Our premier sponsor will be on site all weekend with swag on hand. Make sure to pay them a visit before or after your run. We have lots in store for you throughout the weekend. We will have challenging runs for all skill levels\, 2 pints of Baxter beer for each participant\, and prizes for race winners provided by Stio and Lamey Wellehan. Saturday and Sunday will feature live music by Jumpin’ Willys to keep the positive vibes going. Both days will have sponsors and vendors on hand with swag and items for sale. \n*NEW* We’ve upped the ante and changed our 50 Miler to a 100k! It’s time to start training for Memorial Day weekend 2023! \nWHAT YOU GET\n\nEveryone who races in a 5k\, 10k\, or 15k will receive the Trail Festival at Pineland Farms short sleeved t-shirt. These are available in unisex/men’s as well as women’s sizes. Racers in the 25k\, 50k\, 100k\, and 24 hour events will receive the long sleeve hooded t-shirt. We support veteran families and those with the invisible wounds of war through our Retreat in the Belgrade Lakes Region of Maine.
