Find YOUR Maine winter race!
The Mid Winter 10 Mile Classic in Cape Elizabeth will be run on February 1, 2015. Usually held on the first Sunday in February, and coinciding with the Superbowl, the race is organized by the Maine Track Club, and presented by Fleet Feet Maine Running. Donations from the race are made to the Road Runners Club of America youth running program – Kids Run the Nation, which helps establish kids running programs at schools across the country, including Maine.
One of six races organized annually by the Maine Track Club, the Mid Winter 10 Mile Classic has 1000 slots, and has sold out for the past several years. The 2014 race sold out in just 6 hours – the fastest of any MTC event. Registration begins (and usually ends!) on the Monday before Thanksgiving – Monday, November 24, 2014. Race directors Chandra Leister, Blaine Moore, Don Penta and Four Hewes will once again be at the helm of this popular tune up run for those running spring Marathons, or looking for a goal race to keep them running through the cold winter months.
The USATF certified race course, which starts and finishes at the Cape Elizabeth High School is a loop, and follows Rt 77, Spurwink, Scott Dyer and Sawyer roads. Long sleeve technical shirts are available to runners from Atayne, and post race massages are given by HealthSouth Chiropractic.
