Millinocket Marathon Weekend

The Millinocket Marathon Weekend has become a symbol of resilience and community spirit. It draws runners from across the country who are attracted not just by the challenge of a winter marathon in Maine, but also by the opportunity to support a small town in a meaningful way. The event has been highlighted in various media outlets for its unique approach and positive impact on Millinocket.
The Millinocket Marathon & Half
Don’t run Millinocket for what you get — Run Millinocket for what you give!
First held in 2015 as a self-timed, glorified flash mob, the Millinocket Marathon & Half was started to bolster Maine’s most prominent mill town, which was devastated by the closing of their major employer, Great Northern Paper Company. Runner’s World Magazine picked up the story shortly after and the feel-good, grassroots race quickly gained in popularity. A donation drive allowed both courses to be measured and certified to USATF standards, creating qualifying avenues for major marathons including Boston and New York. Over the past decade, the Millinocket Marathon & Half has become a much-anticipated annual celebration of Maine’s Katahdin Region and life in the North Woods!
Help keep Millinocket running for years to come: Although there is no formal entry fee to run the Millinocket Marathon & Half, all participants are strongly encouraged to make a donation at the time of registration to support the bare minimum race expenses. These expenses include race timing, course certification, port-a-johns, bus transportation, and insurance. Anything raised above and beyond our essential race expenses will be donated to local charitable groups and organizations.
The Millinocket Marathon & Half is organized entirely by volunteers who are not compensated for their time. All donations go directly to supporting race expenses and the community.
If you’re not running, or you didn’t chip in at time of registration but would love to support the race please click HERE to make a donation to help cover our race expenses.
