Wilderness Sled Dog Race
February 4, 2023 @ 8:30 am - 4:00 pm
FreeOn February 4th of 2023, the International Wilderness Sled Dog Race will take place in the beautiful Moosehead Lake Region of Maine. As one of only two long distance races in New England, our 70- and 35-mile races have become very popular in the racing community. Noting from the mushers how friendly the area is along with being a well-organized race on awesome trails that traverse over mountains and lakes with spectacular views. It is a race that mushers, volunteers and spectators mark on their calendars. This year we will also be hosting the addition of a 4-mile sprint race with teams of three to four dogs as well as a Skijor race with one to two dogs, making for lots of action throughout the day with teams finishing Saturday afternoon.
The Wilderness Race is one of the few that offers a great opportunity to view the progress of a sled dog race! The trail gives spectators several viewing locations as they have the opportunity to watch the teams travel across three road crossings, viewing is accessible by car, snowmobile, snowshoes or cross-country skis. Come see these beautiful canine athletes doing what they love best and check out all the local businesses while you are in Greenville!
