The Wilderness Sled Dog Race draws mushers, canine athletes and spectators to the snow-covered trails of the Moosehead Lake region. Fun activities for spectators and families are scheduled throughout the day. They will include educational exhibits, programs to be announced soon and a bonfire to welcome in the racers. Trailside restaurant at Leisure Life Resort is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner all weekend where spectators can enjoy great food in a warm friendly atmosphere with a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains. The Wilderness Sled Dog Race, now in its ninth year, is known for its remote terrain, beautiful scenery and enthusiastic community support. Focus is placed on the health and well-being of the canine athletes who, with their human partners of course, travel throughout the northeast and Canada to compete in this highly popular event.
